Common questions

Before you download

Are these Bible study resources really free?

Yes. Every guide, reading plan and worksheet on this page is completely free to download and print. There is no payment, no trial and no card required. You enter your first name and email address, and the PDF is sent to you and downloads immediately.

What is the OIA Bible study method?

OIA stands for Observation, Interpretation and Application. It is an inductive study method with three steps. First you observe what the passage actually says, noting repeated words, contrasts and context. Then you interpret what it meant to its original audience. Finally you apply the timeless principle to your own life. Doing these in order keeps your conclusions grounded in the text rather than in assumptions.

Which Bible reading plan should I start with if I am a beginner?

Start with Where to Start Reading the Bible. It is a 30-day plan built specifically for people who have never read the Bible through, and it avoids the common mistake of beginning at Genesis 1 and stalling in Leviticus. If you would rather focus on the life of Jesus, the Read the Gospels in 30 Days plan is an equally good entry point.

Can I print these guides and use them in a small group or church?

Yes. All of these are designed to be printed on standard letter paper, and you are welcome to print copies for a small group, Sunday school class or family. We only ask that you do not resell them or remove the OpenBibleLab attribution.

Do I need any particular Bible translation to use these?

No. Every plan, worksheet and reference chart works with any translation. The reading plans list passages by book, chapter and verse, so you can follow them in whichever Bible you already read.

What happens after I download a guide?

Your PDF downloads straight away and a copy arrives by email so you can find it later. Over the following few days you will get two short follow-up emails with practical tips for getting more out of the guide, then a weekly email you can unsubscribe from at any time with one click.
